The Problems of Landfilling Your Waste
Environmental: CO2/CH4 methane emissions inherent in landfilling operations are dangerous GHG emissions. Emissions from waste are the 3rd largest contributor to manmade Green House Gas emissions - methane emissions are considered more than 30 as destructive as co2 emissions. Additionally, toxins, such as ammonia and sulphates, leachate are absorbed into the aquifer, polluting water supplies.
Cost: Landfilling costs are increasing as landfills are being closed without any viable replacement.
Financials: Governments want an alternative which would save budget expenditures and reduced risks in waste management.
Customers: Your citizens are environmentally savvy, knowing that recycling benefits the community.
Usability: Incineration, while an option, will produce greenhouse gases in carbon dioxide, as well as air pollution in the form of carbon monoxide (CO) and noxious emissions, dioxins and particulates, and even heavy metals like lead and mercury.
